POSITION TITLE: Mover
EXEMPTION STATUS: Non-Exempt
REPORTS TO: Purchasing Director
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Part-time/ Temporary/Summer only
Primary Purpose
Perform general moving duties. Moving boxes, furniture, and other classroom items.
Qualifications
Education/Certification
High school diploma or GED, preferred
Valid Texas driver’s license
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
Ability to communicate effectively
Ability to operate hand and power tools
Ability to work independently
Experience
One year experience in general building maintenance with clear driving record
Major Responsibilities
Moving classroom and equipment from one site to another.
Moving
- Assist with relocation of furnishings, such as desks, tables, chairs, file cabinets, etc.
- Move, install, assemble, and repair all school furniture and playground equipment as needed.
- Operate light truck to transport furniture, equipment and supplies and materials throughout district.
- Work irregular hours

- Operate equipment and use tools following established safety procedures.
- Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties.
- Correct unsafe conditions in work area and immediately report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor.

- Articulate the district’s mission and goals to the community and solicit community support.
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors
- Tools/Equipment Used: Hand Truck, electric drill, hand tools, pallet jack
- Posture: Frequent standing, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, twisting; work in tiring and uncomfortable positions and tight and enclosed spaces
- Motion: Frequent walking; repetitive hand motions, wrist flexion/extension, grasping/squeezing, overhead reaching; frequent driving
- Lifting: Lifting and carrying up to 30 pounds without assistance, 30-55 pounds with assistance, and more than 55 pounds with appropriate assistance
- Environment: Work outside and inside; on slippery or uneven surfaces; on ladders and scaffolding; around machinery and moving parts; exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, fumes, toxic chemicals and materials, noise, vibration; frequent districtwide travel; occasional irregular and/or prolonged hours
