POSITION TITLE: Security Guard (Unarmed) High School
EXEMPTION STATUS: Non-exempt
REPORTS TO: Principal
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 9 months
Primary Purpose
Under general supervision, provide security and protection for students, staff and visitors and prevents property loss due to theft or vandalism. Help ensure the physical security of the building and assist in notifying SRO/Law enforcement when appropriate.
Qualifications
Education/Certification
High School Diploma or GED
Valid Texas Driver’s License
Special Knowledge/Skills
Ability to clearly and accurately record information
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
Ability to work effectively with youths and adults
Ability to communicate effectively (verbally)

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Student Management
- Patrol assigned campus. Monitor student behavior and enforce school rules related to student conduct, vehicle operation, and parking. Ensure the physical security of the building(s) (ie. Secure Doors) monitor bathrooms, respond to vape detector alerts, etc.
- Resolve conflict or confrontation between students and report disturbances to principal or assistant principal.
- Control traffic and parking on campus grounds during school hours and at afterhours events.
Security and Parking
- Register student vehicles and maintain accurate records of registration.
- Work cooperatively with office personnel to inform students of problems with vehicles (i.e., improperly parked, lights on, etc.)
- Assist law enforcement personnel as needed.
- Notify police, fire department, or other appropriate authority of any situation requiring immediate attention.
- Give directions or act as a guide to authorized visitors.
Other
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Coordinator of Security/Asst. Superintendent of Operations.
- Maintain confidentiality of student information, records, and personnel issues.
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors
- Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer, peripherals and radios
- Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, twisting
- Motion: Repetitive hand motions, frequent keyboarding and use of mouse
- Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (under 15 pounds)
- Environment: Frequent districtwide travel; occasional statewide travel
- Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
