POSITION TITLE: Instructional Aide STEM
EXEMPTION STATUS: Non-exempt
REPORTS TO: Principal
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 10 months; 2024-2025 school year
HOURLY SALARY RANGE: Minimum $14.02, Midpoint $17.52, Maximum $21.02
Primary Purpose
This is a Title I, Part A funded position to provide additional support to students in need of assistance to reach their potential. Provide support services to enhance academic, social, and emotional learning. Work under the direct supervision of teacher(s), the and campus principal to offer STEM educational opportunities in the area of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
Qualifications
Education/Certification
Associate’s degree, two years of study (48 college hours) at an institute of higher learning, or meet formal academic assessment
Valid Texas educational aide certificate
Special Knowledge/Skills
Ability to assist with classroom instruction
Ability to work well with children
Effective communication (verbal and written), organizational, and interpersonal skills
Experience
Experience working with children
Major Responsibilities and Duties
Instructional Strategies
- Demonstrate the ability to model and deliver student-centered learning experiences around Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math.
- Demonstrate fundamental knowledge or the connection between technology, computer science, and other fields of study.
- Under teacher supervision, provide instruction and additional support to enhance academic, social, and emotional learning to students in small group settings.
- Provide project/problem-based learning (PBL), design thinking, and authentic learning opportunities in the areas of science, technology, engineering, and math.
- Assist with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
- Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
- Assist in conducting parent involvement activities and encourage family engagement.
Student Management
- Assist with classroom management.
- Supervise students throughout the day, inside and outside the classroom.
- Keep teacher informed of special needs and issues of individual students
Professional Growth and Learning
- Participate in professional learning activities to improve job-related skills and demonstrate interest and initiative in professional improvement.
- Attend and participate in staff meetings and special events as assigned.
Communication
- Establish and maintain appropriate communication and a professional relationship with students, families, and colleagues.
- Present for students a positive role model that supports the mission of the district and demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible as set out in the Texas Educator Code of Ethics.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of student and district information.

- Tools/Equipment Used: Standard classroom equipment including computer and peripherals
- Posture: Prolonged sitting/standing, frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling,
- Motion: Frequent walking; frequent repetitive hand motions, keyboarding, use of mouse, wrist flexion/extension
- Lifting: Lifting and carrying up to 30 pounds without assistance, 30-55 pounds with assistance, and more than 55 pounds with appropriate assistance.
