POSITION TITLE: Service Manager

 

EXEMPTION STATUS: Non-exempt

 

REPORTS TO: Director of Transportation

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 12 months

 

Primary Purpose

 

Supervise the daily activities of vehicle repair and maintenance operation to ensure proper performance and safety of all district vehicles.

 

Qualifications

 

Education/Certification

High School Diploma or GED

Valid Texas Class B Commercial Driver’s License with all school bus driving endorsements

Bus Driver Certification

Texas Vehicle Safety Inspector Certification

 

Special Knowledge/Skills

Advanced knowledge of automotive mechanics and maintenance

Ability to operate vehicle repair equipment and tools

Ability to lift heavy equipment and vehicle parts

Ability to supervise personnel and coordinate shop operations

Ability to use personal computer and software

Ability to pass alcohol and drug test

Ability to complete required bus driver safety training

Ability to operate bus

Ability to communicate effectively and follow written and verbal instructions

Knowledge of student discipline procedures and ability to manage student behavior

 

Experience

Five years’ experience in vehicle repair and maintenance procedures; two years supervisory experience; three years with clear driving record

Tools/Equipment Used: Automotive diagnostic equipment, wheel balancing equipment, tire repair equipment, small hand tools, drill, drill press, grinder, air-powered tools, welding torch, torque wrench, jack and lift equipment; school bus and vehicles; safety equipment such as flares, reflective signs, fire extinguisher; two-way radio
Posture: Moderate standing, walking, climbing, bending/stooping, kneeling/squatting/crouching, crawling, pushing/pulling, twisting, reaching; prolonged sitting
Motion: Frequent repetitive hand and arm motions, wrist flexion/extension
Vision: Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
Lifting: Lifting and carrying up to 30 pounds without assistance, 30-55 pounds with assistance, and more than 55 pounds with appropriate assistance
